Browser cores are the versions your Multilogin browser profiles run on. Newer cores help websites, extensions, and automation tools work properly as browsers change.

Use Mimic for new and ongoing work. Stealthfox is being phased out, no longer receives core updates, and stays on version 146.

Mimic and Stealthfox

Multilogin has two browser options:

• Mimic: Chrome-based and actively updated
• Stealthfox: Firefox-based, legacy, and no longer updated

For new browser profiles, use Mimic.

How Mimic core updates work

1. A new Chrome core is released
2. Multilogin tests it before rollout
3. The new Mimic core is usually released 1–2 weeks later
4. Your Mimic profile updates automatically the next time you start it

Why updates roll out later

New browser versions can introduce bugs or compatibility issues. 

Multilogin uses the 1–2 week window to test the core before releasing it to Mimic profiles.

This also gives extensions and automation tools such as Puppeteer and Selenium time to catch up with browser changes.

How to check the latest Mimic version

1. Click the “Info” button in the bottom panel
2. In the pop-up, you’ll see the latest Mimic version

FAQ

Can I update the browser core manually?

No. Mimic core updates are rolled out by Multilogin after testing and applied when you start the profile.

Why is my Mimic version behind the latest Chrome version?

That can be normal. Multilogin usually releases a new Mimic core 1–2 weeks after the corresponding Chrome release so it can be tested first.

Does Stealthfox still receive core updates?

No. Stealthfox is being phased out and stays on core version 146.

Should I use Mimic or Stealthfox for a new profile?

Use Mimic. It’s the actively supported browser and continues to receive new core versions.
