How to pick the right profile type in Multilogin
Who can use this feature?

What is a profile?
A profile is a separate virtual identity. Each profile keeps its own cookies, history, settings, and fingerprint, so your sessions stay separate.
Profiles help you:
- Keep accounts and workflows isolated
- Save session data for later use
- Work in desktop or mobile environments
Here’s how to pick the right profile type for your needs.
Pick the environment
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Browser | Website logins, ad dashboards, seller centers, CRMs, web apps, browser automation, tasks that need tabs or extensions | Works with most modern websites, supports normal browser extensions, and lets you keep web sessions in a separate profile you can reopen later. |
| Cloud phone | Android-only workflows, mobile app tasks, social media app management, mobile account checks, workflows that need touch controls or a phone camera | Runs as a real Android phone in the cloud, works with mobile apps, and removes the need to buy or manage a physical phone yourself. |
Our tip: cloud phone billing starts at €0.0075 per minute, so it’s ideal for mobile app-specific work, rather than general browser tasks.
Pick where to store the profile
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud | Team handoffs, shared profiles, switching between home and office devices, accessing the same setup from different machines | Lets you open the same profile from any device and makes collaboration easier when more than one person needs access. |
| Local | Solo work on one computer, heavier daily use on the same machine, setups where nobody else needs access | Loads faster on one device, keeps profile data on your machine, and is simpler when you don’t need cross-device access or sharing. |
Pick the browser type
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Mimic | Most new profiles, Chrome-like browsing, modern websites, automation workflows, users who want the safest default choice | Offers broader compatibility, active core updates, better long-term reliability, and strong support for automation-heavy work. |
| Stealthfox | Firefox-specific websites, Firefox add-ons, older workflows that still depend on Firefox-like behavior | Works best when a site, workflow, or extension is tailored for a Firefox-style environment. |
Important: Stealthfox is now a legacy browser and no longer receives core updates. For most users, Mimic is recommended.
Pick how long you need the session
| Option | Best for | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Regular | Accounts you return to often, long-term client work, warmed-up profiles, ongoing stores or ad accounts | Keeps cookies and local storage, reduces repeated logins, and helps you continue where you left off in a stable setup. |
| Quick | One-off checks, short tests, QA runs, temporary tasks, risky experiments you do not need to keep | Starts fast, deletes all data after the session ends, and saves cleanup time when the work is temporary. |
FAQs
Can I use the same profile on multiple devices?
Yes, if you choose to store your profile in the cloud, you can access it from any device. This is perfect for teams or individuals who need to access the same setup from different locations or devices.
Can I run multiple accounts on the same website with different profiles?
Yes. Each profile is isolated, so accounts will not be linked.
Which browser type should I choose if I’m unsure?
Choose Mimic for broad compatibility with modern websites.
Can I update or change the browser core of a profile after it's created?
No, once a profile is created with a specific browser core (e.g., Mimic or Stealthfox), it cannot be changed. If you need to switch to a different browser core, you'll have to create a new profile.
