How to unlock a locked profile
Browser profiles can stay locked after closing to prevent sync issues and protect your data. This typically happens if:
- The profile closed unexpectedly
- A process became corrupted
When this occurs, you’ll see a padlock icon instead of the usual Launch/Stop buttons. No worries though – it’s easy to fix! Here’s what to do:
- Stop all running profiles
- Click the “Unlock profiles” button in the top-right corner of the app
- Refresh the page

Don't have the “Unlock profiles” button? Then do the following:
- Stop all running profiles
- Disconnect the agent
- Delete the .lock files
- Refresh the Multilogin X dashboard
- Connect the agent again
- If the padlock icon still appears, you will see the new “Unlock profiles” button in the top-right corner
- Click “Unlock profiles” – the padlock icon will disappear, revealing the launch button again
