FYP (For You Page) is the main TikTok feed that the algorithm builds individually for each user. It does not show posts from subscriptions. It shows videos the system selected based on behavior signals. Getting into the FYP determines an account’s reach: without recommendations, only followers see the video.
How the Feed Works
- Candidate collection. The system forms a pool of videos: new uploads, clips matching the user’s interests, content with similar sounds and hashtags.
- Pre-ranking. The model estimates the probability of full watch and interaction for a specific user.
- Test delivery. The video gets a small distribution to a limited audience.
- Expansion or stop. If first-batch metrics clear the threshold, the algorithm widens reach. If they fall below it, impressions fade.
- Interest profile update. Every user action shifts the interest vector and shapes the next batch.
Follower count and past successful videos guarantee nothing: each clip runs the cycle from scratch.

The key metric is completion rate, the share of users who watch the video to the end. The algorithm weighs it more heavily than likes.
TikTok FYP by Region
The feed is market-specific. A user in Jakarta and a user in São Paulo see different creators, sounds, and ad formats on the same day. Four signals define the market: IP address, device environment, app language, and the account’s own viewing history.

What Reduces Reach
- duplicate content and the same clip uploaded from several accounts;
- watermarks from other platforms;

- browser-based or unnatural session signals on a mobile-first platform.
TikTok is a mobile-first platform. The app reads signals only real devices produce: movement patterns, tap timing, accelerometer data, hardware identifiers. Browser tools cannot generate these signals.
